I’m getting ready for a trip around the world

OWOH2010announce

When I first entered blog land a few years ago I hopped in with both feet by joining One World One Heart.  I loved the idea of people connecting from around the globe. It was an opportunity to share my world and something I made with a complete stranger who could be from anywhere. OWOH introduced me to some truly wonderful people and artists from around the world. I missed my opportunity to join last year but I have jumped on the band wagon just in time to take part this year.

I already have what I think is the perfect treasure to give away. It’s something I made a while back with the inspiration for freedom and the hope of living in a world of peace and acceptance. I can’t wait to become a part of this inspirational group once again. In 2009 there were 911 bloggers who participated from a total of 28 different countries- that’s amazing! This international event brings kindred spirits from all walks of life together and spreads a wave of love that’s hard to describe.

This could be a wonderful experience for you to meet new people and an opportunity to receive something lovingly made or bought by a kindred spirit from around the world. So stop by on January 25th when OWOH begins and sign up for my drawing. On that day’s post I’ll have a link to the whimsical bohemian so you can take a magic carpet ride around the world. Pack your bags for this fabulous trip that begins on January 25th and ends on February the 15th.

I can’t wait!

Where Bloggers Create; a place where magic and creativity collide

blogger Party july 24

“It is our choices that show what we truly are,

far more than our abilities.”

J.K. Rowling

I found this quote to be fitting for today’s blog party. Karen Valentine of My desert Cottage is hosting an event that will allow us to take a peek into the lives and studios of over 160 creative soles. Make sure you take this opportunity to see where these creative individuals work their magic.

Thanks Karen

I share my desk with a camera collection but my creative process doesn’t begin in the office, in front of my computer, it begins on location, the moment something catches my eye- an opportunity is captured,

IMG_1384 2 good

but sometimes it starts in my mind when an opportunity is developed or created. My work space is where ever my camera takes me.

There’s no recipe or guide to my creative process and my destinations aren’t down on any map. I love the fact that my work environment changes like the wind. Some days I head out to the woods or garden but my favorite places to work are found during my travels.

My office is the place where I decide if an image will make it into my shop, Studiopink, or just take up space in my computer. I’ve posted a comglomeration of things that inspire me throughout the office.

My inspiration board is filled with my photos, as well as a few quotes and clippings that speak to me. I can’t tell you how many times a day I look over my shoulder to digest the images and words that inspire me.

Of course I love to photograph pretty things like  flowers …

How could I resist a spring bouquet of pink Calla Lillies?

I couldn’t!

Or a vase filled with fresh daisies plucked from the field.

I love my flower images but I have to say my favorite photographs are captured in the dreamy spaces that I create.

This image of fresh sheets hanging in the trees was capture in my backyard and then enhanced by a little photoshop magic.

An old chair with chippy paint tucked in the woods is just my style. It feels like a secret place that’s waiting  just for me.

The fading light peeking through the trees makes this image special.

Although the magic really happens when I look through the lens of my camera, I do think my indoor studio is important and should reflect my personality.

That’s why I have a few special niches filled with things that inspire me. I have a love for writing and the antique Smith & Corona typewriter that was used by a journalist on assignment  inspires me to follow my passion. It folds flat and has a carrying case perfect for a travelling writer/photographer- my dream job.

I’ve combined a few images with original essays in a

found words through photography project.

No matter where you decide to create, always follow your bliss and take the creative journey in a manner that is just your style.

I felt empowered this day and had to captured the moment in a reflection across the pond.

Live your life with a creative spirit but more importantly-

 just live it!

Here’s to a new week, a new path and new friends…

IMG_3337 2

How do you choose a new path? Do you look for the easy road or something magical and inspiring? Does it have to speak to you or do you just go with the one that is highly recommended? Like I always say: “follow your heart, your passion, your bliss” and you’ll never go wrong. It may not be easy but it will be worth it!

I’m back from my family retreat and as promised I will be passing on an award today but first I’d like to share my unravelling with you.

I along with 164 other people from around the globe have embarked on a journey of self discovery from the feet up. Our first assignment was to photograph our feet in a way that said something about us. I shared one of my pic’s with you here. We are allowed to share 4 photo’s and descriptions each week with the class. We do not have our new photo assignment for this week but our writing assignment is to write our life as a fairy tale. Okay we all know that I’m good at the make believe stuff but writing about my whole life as a fairy tale isn’t that easy. I have caught myself adding little embellishments and sidesteps that just aren’t true. What a surprise to me that the writing assignments has been the hardest part thus far. It is incredibly interesting to see how others view themselves. I have always wondered how different my view of myself is compared to the people who know me best.

Okay now to move into the good stuff. I was very honored last week when Deborah from Midlife Poet  (go meet Deborah she is so inspiring) gave me the coveted Renee award. If you do not know anything about this award or have the privilege of knowing Renee, a very incredible lady, please stop by Birds Circling My Head for a visit.

Now I think I’m ready to share this award with a few deserving friends of mine.  I will list just a few that I think have displayed their courage or kindness to others and me in blog land.

Libby from Thoughts usually with attitude: Libby is a very courageous and kind lady battling MS. No matter what kind of day it is she always has a kind and encouraging message to leave. Thank you for that Libby.

Ricardo from Unloaded: He is in the midst of making some incredible changes in his life and tells it like it is, at all times. He lets it all hang out very candidly but is always supportive of his fellow bloggers. Thanks Ricardo.

Shell from Swan of Dreamers: She is a dreamer like myself and inspires others with her beautiful words. She charms me with her positive attitude and I usually learn something when I visit her. She always has something kind to say. Thanks Shell, fellow dreamer.

Terra from Unfinished business part II: Terra has an uncanny way of making  her daily experiences read like a sitcom or soap opera. She is kind and supportive in her comments. Thanks Terra.

Now really I could go on all day listing people who inspire me and others with their beautiful blogs that make me want to try harder.  I mentioned just a few because they are the bloggers who have been most supportive of me in my quest to follow my dreams.

Thanks for sharing this first day of a new week with me.
