Little words- big message

IMG_3306

Several years ago on a warm and sunny fall day, I came across a deserted beach along lake Superior.  As I walked along the shore with my collecting bucket (to gather smooth lake/worry stones) I noticed something very unusual; every few feet there was a word or saying painted on the rocks- things like be happy, smile, don’t judge, love, etc. I instantly smiled because some soulful spirit had left a beautiful message behind just for me. What a perfect way to connect with someone you will most likely never meet. If you think about it we connect with each other all the time by what we leave behind, sometimes it intentional, sometimes it’s not.

Since that day I have shared a little found words with strangers from time to time. The dry river bed that runs through my garden harbors a few such messages as it twists and turns between the plants. Every once in a while I pack up a rock or two and leave them along an out of the way path so someone else can experience the unexpected joy that I did on that perfect fall day along the beach.

Some day as you’re walking along life’s path you may come across a smooth stone with a positive message that was left by me for you to find. Now that would be amazing!  I love the opportunity to make a stranger smile.

Chippy paint and hidden secrets

IMG_4432

I love the look and feel of an old door with it’s chippy paint and smooth wood that’s been worn to  perfection. Every door has a secret to tell and it’s this secret that begs for a  peek just beyond the weathered handle. I can’t resist the temptation of a door that has been left open just a crack. That calling from a special place promises to lead to another world, far too magical to ignore. A steady hand and a watchful eye make way into another time and place. The feet follow as the mind is lost in the secret that lies just beyond the door.

I had to let you peek at the old doors that inspired me to spend hours behind the lens this weekend. The lusty colors took my breathe away and the lovely patina sent my hair into the perfect curl.

There’s something magical about an old door. It begs to be opened and plays with the mind.

I felt like a little girl caught up in a fairy tale. I blame it on my childhood book “The Lion the witch and the wardrobe” but maybe it’s just me.

This door has withstood centuries and traveled across an ocean. Who knows what secrets are held behind that beautiful patina.

This image will be listed as part of my found words series on etsy sometime this week. The studio will feature a few images along with the following  original words.

Every door holds a secretIMG_4451

The calling

 The temptation

The peek at life just beyond the door

Another world

A quiet muse

A magical place

A curious hand and wandering eye begs the feet to step beyond

Be wary

And mindful

Or you’ll be lost in the secret that lies just beyond the crepit door

You never know what kind of magic is waiting for you just beyond the door.

What kinds of things peek your curiosity or tempt you to go beyond? Perhaps it’s a glowing light in the window as you pass by that begs you to look or the magic of an intricate box tucked away in storage that must be opened. Tell me what sends your hair in the perfect curl.

I’m dying to hear so talk to me….

Found words-through the lens…

IMG_3382 2

Until I fly away

Wrapped so tightly in a mystery that whispers like the wind in your ear, softly spoken but not without a stand:

it calls your name and beckons your soul to break free, finally free.  Do you live in your head?

Think of every word you may have written and each town you’ve ever lived in.

What did you say, who kept you warm, were you free, really free? It’s all in your head.

I am holding something precious, tightly, ever so tightly. It is the words to a love song,

the recipe for success , a mystery with nothing more to say. Don’t live in your head.

You can see me, reach out and touch me, but only until I break free and fly away.

I have been busy putting together the “found words in photography” project for my Studio pink store. I hope to list a few sets later today. I love the green and brown speckled eggs in this nest. I believe they belong to a mockingbird.

I took a run through the field last night and came across a gorgeous tree just loaded with spring time blossoms. I couldn’t resist….

The blooms gave off a  slightly floral aroma that was dipped in an essence of  fresh honey as it dripped off the hive. Can you smell it? It was Heaven to my senses. I enjoyed every breath I took while under this tree. The pink buds opened to a creamy white sensation and the leaves were a fresh spring green. It was magic to my eyes and nose-perfection!

Enjoy the day!
