Someone once said… “Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.”

Feeling kind-of groovy

There’s nothing like meeting an old friend you haven’t seen in over 25 years. We were high school buddies that lost touch after graduation. We hugged, we laughed, we shopped it was amazing, just like we picked up where we left off. It’s funny how we think we’ve changed so much until we go back in time with a friend and realize that “hey, I am the same person I was  many years ago but just a little wiser and calmer. ” Before the day was over we both promised to meet again, sometime soon and we will.

Last night I got out a few holiday decorations and played around a bit. I love vintage looking bulbs and ornaments like bottle brush trees, mercury bulbs and oh yes I love, love my little blue deer. He is so groovy with his retro good looks and sparkly glitter and he has the tiniest bell around his neck.

Some of you had a few questions about the book, “A Sea of Whispers”, well this started out as a novel that never got published.  I’ve now taken the idea in a totally different direction.  Instead of a story about a woman whose life didn’t turn out as she planned, it became a book of inspiration through images and words. How does a novel become a coffee table book of inspiration, well remember who you’re talking to, the girl who changes course in mid-stream at the blink of an eye.  Wink, Wink…   This book is self-published and I hope to sell it in my e-store. I have to say that the quality of this book took me by surprise, it was superb. I was so afraid that the images may turn out too flat or pixellated or that my choice of lay-outs wouldn’t look just right. But as soon as  I unwrapped it, I feel in love. It feels wonderful in my hands and the images and layouts are exceptional. I made a couple tweaks and added a thing or two and then back to the publishing company it went. It’s not a cheap book to print but then I couldn’t except anything but the best quality. As soon as it comes back from the printer I will take some pics and share. I’ll keep you posted. Writing a book and being published has always been a dream of mine and so I decided to take matters into my own hands and just do it. I can’t wait to share it with you!

Well I’m off to get everything ready for my son, who is flying home from Oregon tomorrow. Yeah…. I hope he’s home for good. He ‘s a bit like his mother with stars in his eyes and wander-lust in his heart.

Have a magical Wednesday!!!

Flash back in a cup

IMG_2804

My usual morning involves a strong cup of Java and a moment or two spent here with you but I decided to change things up a bit this morning. So I lit the Sandalwood incense I recently picked up in a quaint little shop a few miles to the north and poured myself a cup of Yogi Tea, Woman’s Moon Cycle to be exact. There I sat gazing out the window while experiencing the complex aroma of an earthy sandal wood smoke. The tea’s spicy scent reminded me of my youth and a hot bowl of cinnamon oatmeal. It did deliver on the harmony it promised but it was the little something else it provided that I liked most- a flash back to my youth. Perhaps it was the incense and not the tea but never -the- less, it was a fun trip.

I remember 5th grade, my best girl friends and a boy that each wanted to claim as their boyfriend. Quite honestly I didn’t find him anything special (sorry Brent) but just the mere fact that he was wanted by all meant that yes I wanted him too. So the leader of the pack, not me, decided that we should put together a multiple choice love letter which gave him the option to choose his girl.

It went something like this: If you love Sonja check this box, If you love Denise check this box, If you love Junie check this box and so on and so forth. Well this boy was no dummy and wasn’t going to cut out any of his options, so of course he checked every girl’s box- apparently he loved us all 😉  This meant we had to take turns at recess holding hands with this lucky three-timing boy. I wonder if Brent has ever settled for just one woman.

I enjoyed a moment of retro bliss and the memories were special but I still feel a little sleepy and may have to pour myself a stiff cup of Joe after all. Old habits die hard ya know. Have a harmonious weekend.

These Boots are Made for…

go-go-bootsPlease Welcome Nancy and her magic boots to the sofa.

Do any of you have a favorite pair of underwear or piece of jewelry that  makes everything go right whenever you wear them? I have a pair of sexy boots that bring me luck and make me feel like I can do anything  as soon as I slip them on. They are a retro style go go boot and so cool. But they really don’t go with a lot of things. I save them for special occasions, like dates with  really hot guys and whenever I need a boost of confidence. I’m not superstitious by nature but I would swear that these boots really have some sort of power. I always get my man when I’m in these boots. You can’t stop Nancy in her magic boots.  I once wore them to an interview. They were totally inappropriate but I got the job. These boots are tall, sexy and silver. See what I mean by inappropriate and hard to fit into my wardrobe. I consider these boots my secret weapon against failure.  I love them not just because they make me feel like a totally different person when I wear them, but because they bring the magic.

Junie: Nancy your boots sound awesome. I want a pair!
